Visit the Nantwich Food & Drink Festival to find out how to save a whopping £60 a month!
21st August 2014
Food lovers from across Cheshire East are being urged to attend the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival next month and not only find out how to save up to a staggering £60 a month on their food bill but also see top Chef, Nigel Brown demonstrating his many culinary talents.
The Waste Awareness Team from Ansa Environmental Services, a company owned and controlled by Cheshire East Council will be at the popular Festival on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September talking to residents on Love Lane about how to love the food they buy rather than waste it.
It is a fact that almost 50% of the total amount of food thrown away in the UK comes from our homes. We throw away 7 million tonnes of food and drink every year in the UK and more than half of the food thrown away could have been eaten.
Families waste food as they either buy too much or they don’t store it properly and just by following some top tips, they can not only help reduce the millions of tonnes of good food and drink thrown away every year but can also help to protect the environment and save up to £60 a month too!
Councillor John Hammond, Chair of Ansa Environmental Services said, “We are delighted to be supporting Cheshire East Council at this year’s Nantwich Food and Drink Festival.
“Over 40,000 people attend the event every year and it therefore gives us an excellent opportunity to talk to residents about the importance of not wasting food as it’s not only a terrible waste of food and money but it also has a major environmental impact.
“I would encourage residents to come along and talk to the team at the Festival and not only find out some great tips but they can also take part in fun games and see top Chef, Nigel Brown in action.”
Deborah Robb, Chair of the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival added, “The Nantwich Food and Drink Festival is one of the few UK food festivals based in a town centre and in this case, what a town!
“At the three day festival, the narrow streets will come alive with a wide variety of independent shops, selling delicious food, wine, and much more as well as a lively community of coffee shops, restaurants and bars.
“I would like to thank Cheshire East Council and Ansa Environmental Services for supporting the Show and I am sure the thousands of visitors will enjoy visiting them and hearing their great advice as well as excellent cooking by Nigel Brown.”
Top chef Nigel Brown regularly demonstrates his culinary talents at top food festivals and events around the country including prestigious locations such as Hampton Court Palace and Earls Court, entertaining his audiences with his cheeky sense of humour and easy to follow teaching style.
The Nantwich Food and Drink Festival will take place on Friday 5th September from 12pm- 8pm, on Saturday 6th September from 9am - 6pm and on Sunday 7th September from 10am - 5pm. For full details, please visit, www.nantwichfoodfestival.co.uk. Also listen out to our radio interviews on Silk FM!
